Coming on the heels of Beijing 2008, the 2012 London Olympics had big shoes to fill. But watching this as it was live, I remember realizing that all it took to top 1000's of drummers yelling and playing at once was one dude most everything in the world knows doing a silly bit. For me it highlights the difference between cultural attitudes of collectivism vs individualism between the East and West. In my opinion I was more entertained by this scene alone than the theatrics and mass games of the 2008 opening ceremony.
