In this Unity tutorial I show you how to let the player interact with a game object.

As example I use the crate I modelled with Blender and play the open and close animation on interact.

The Unity low poly game kit can be downloaded from the assetstore:

  1. I was wondering if there is a way to instead of being able to interact with the object on collision, if you can interact with it when you hover the mouse over it?

  2. I would like to ask you a question: I the PlayerController script there is a method called "InteractWithItem". how did you link the execution of that method to the animation?

  3. I keep getting the error The type or namespace name 'InteractableItemBase' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Any fix for this?
I also get 'Crate.OnInteract()': no suitable method found to override

  4. Hey can u make player rotate to look at the interactable item if u try to interact with it (pressing F) ?

  5. This video is really helpful. Thanks for the upload. 😀. Now that you have an crate is there a way to store items into it? For example put a rock in it then take it out. I have also been trying to make an Refrigerator type of item where when you put food into the box the items spoil rate slows down. Example: and apple will rot in 4 days but a apple stored in a refrigerator will rot in 6 days. I have been trying to figure out how to make items in my projects spoil and ways to slow down spoiling. I have tried this with RPG maker, Game maker ect but I still have not found away to do this. Any idea on how I could learn to do this type of system.

  6. Hello, I was wondering if you could provide some lighting tips for low poly environments in Unity. Videos are great by the way.
